Thinking Style vs Personality Profiling
Typically organisations use personality tools to provide clarity on personalty traits and to predict someones job performance and or fit within a culture. Tools such as Myers-Briggs are great for recruitment and developing team cultures. However, I have often been challenged using the data specifically to build high performance and measuring the positive change in teams and individuals.
Thinking Style Is A Game Changer
Recently, I was introduced to the Meta Dynamics™ Profiling tool. This tool, which is the mastermind of Sharon Pearson, CEO of The Coaching Institute, is the only evidence-based coaching tool of its kind in Australasia. The tool is a 16-dimension assessment that looks at an individuals preferences, particularly in an every day context. It measures 41 primary characteristics that are relevant to thinking styles. Characteristics such as: problem solving; adaptability; conscientiousness, efficiency and creativity to name a few.
A detailed report provides insights into an individuals archetype and identifies personal strengths and potential stretches. Areas of growth potential are obvious and therefore action can be taken to change and improve.
Because thinking style is both a competence and a skill, it means it can improve with effort and action over time. The Meta Dynamics™ Profiling tool provides benchmark data that can be measured against every 12 months by simply doing the survey again and thus improvement areas can be seen.
Developing Action Leaders
I am an Inner Strength Coach. The reason I incorporate the Meta Dynamics™ Profiling tool into my career and leadership coaching is because of the benefits and proven success this tool has with individuals and groups.
With individuals, I use the analysis to help my clients develop their career plans with a focus on building skills and competency against areas that really matter that align with their development plans and personal goals. I combine inner world coaching (ie by building the self esteem muscle) and external goal planning to help my clients shift from good to great (and great to extraordinary!).
In groups, I incorporate the profiling tool into my leadership program, “Developing Action Leaders”. This program is ideal for middle management, senior and executive management levels. 4 Quads To Effective Leadership
This approach is fast creating high performing people and outcomes where collaboration and results-driven mindsets are standards of the leadership culture.
